Peewee Finals Recap

The Peewee Final would pit a pair of South Kent Lightning teams after each team scored 6 wins in the Playoff round robin but South Kent 1 would have a tie and a loss compared to South Kent 2’s 2 losses to give them “home ice advantage”

Game 1  South Kent 1 6 South Kent 2 3


South Kent 1 would be the home team for game 1 on March 22nd but South Kent 2 would strike first midway through the first period as Jacob H would score unassisted in what would be the only goal of the opening period.  Period 2 would see 5 goals scored as the SK 1 would tie the game up less than 4 minutes into the 2nd as Ryley C would knotch the equalizer with an assist to JAckson K. Jonathon B would make it 2-1 less than 2 minutes later with an assist to Ryley C.  Ayden L would tie the game for SK2 with an unassisted goal with 5:30 to go in the middle frame. Jackson K would score the first of his hat trick to make it 3-2 for SK1 with an assist to Cater G. But once agains SK2 would answer back before the end of the period as Camden B scored assisted by Eric R and Brayden H ending the period 3-3.  SK1 would take over the game in the 2rd as they fired in 3 goals in the last 5:10 of the game. Jackson K scored from Parker C and Ryley C. Jonathon G would make it 5-3 from Jonathan B and Jackson K would get his hat trick goal with 1:08 remaining in the game sealing the game 1 victory for SK1.


Game 2 South Kent 2 7 South Kent 1 4


South Kent 1 would look to close out the series as the visitor in game 2 on Mar 23rd.  South Kent 2 would score the first goal of the game at 8:43 as Jacob H would light the lamp with assists to Ethan J and Ryelly H.  SK1 would answer back with a goal by Jonathon G unassisted. SK2 retook the lead just 14 seconds later as Ryelly H scored assisted by Camden B and Brady P would make it 3-1 unassisted with 1:10 remaining in the first.    The second period would once again see a 5 goal outburst between the 2 teams with SK1 make the game 3-2 just 31 seconds in off the stick of Owen B with an assist to Graysen A. SK2 would regain their 2 goal lead as Eric R would score unassisted at 12:35.  Jonathon G of SK1 would make it 4-3 scoring at 9:28 assisted by Jackson K. But once again SK2 would answer right back just 13 seconds later Drew R scored unassisted. SK1 would would make the score 5-4 with less than a minute to go in the second as JOnathan B scored unassisted.  SK2 would extended the lead with 2 more goals in the third from Eric R and Jacob H tom put the game away 7-4 and even the best of three at a game apiece.


Game 3 South Kent 2 5 South Kent 1 2


South Kent 1 would return to the home side of the Arena to play the deciding game 3 on Mar 24th.  As is the first 2 games Lucan V and Danielle B would get the start between the pipes. The game would be penalty free meaning all the goals would be scored 5 on 5.   South Kent 2 came out flying with 3 unanswered goals in the first. The first goal came at 8:21 from Logan F from Joseph S and Ayden L. SK2 would go up 2-0 at 6:03 with Ayden L scoring with assists to Eric R and Lukin P.  The third goal would come from Eric R rom Ayden L and Joseph S at 2:28. SK1 1 would rally in the second making it 3-1 at 11:35 as Ryley C scored Jackson K and Parker C. SK1 would score 50 seconds later as Carter G scared with help from Parker C and Owen B to make it 3-2 but SK2 would grab a 4-2 lead as Eric R scored at 2:58 with assists to Brayden H and  Sam K. Brayden H would notch the hat trick with 2:28 of the third to ice the game with an assist rom Brayden H to win the Peewee Title.
