Bantam Finals Recap

The Bantam Final would see the Wallaceburg Lakers 1 face the Southwest Bullets in a matchup of 1-2 in the regular season.  Wallaceburg had lost only twice in 30 league games this season.

Game 1 Wallaceburg Lakers 1 3 Southwest Bullets 0


Game 1 would be hosted by the Southwest Bullets in Glencoe on Mar 18th.


Wallaceburg would score late in the first at 1:21 of the period as Wade M would score with the assist to Ewan M.  The teams would battle to a scoreless second period with Aiden M for Wallaceburg and Tristan H of Southwest keeping is a tight game.  But Wallaceburg would get some breathing room with 3:30 left in the third off the stick of Ewan M with assists to Ryan B and Wade M to make it 2-0.  Wallaceburg would ice the game at 1:21 as Wade M scored assisted by Ewan M to give Wallaceburg a 3-0 game 1 win heading home for game 2


Game 2 Wallaceburg Lakers 5 Southwest Bullets 4


Game 2 would shift to Wallaceburg as the looked to capture the title but it was Southwest who struck first at 9:53 of the opening frame.  Evan D scored to make it 1-0 with an assist to Colton C. Southwest would go up 2-0 as Jaxon A scored unassisted at 7:49. However Wallaceburg would answer back as Holden M sould score with 20 seconds remaining to make it a 2-1 game from Southwest after 1.  Southwest would regain their 2 goal lead at 8:37 of the second as Evan D scored with an assist to John V. Wallaceburg would answer right back 26 seconds later off the stick of Matthew O with assists from Braeden Y and Holden M. Southwest would take another 2 goal lead with 3:46 to go in the second scored by Cole T assisted by John V.  Wallaceburg would get another late period goal at 1:11 by Kyle M assisted by Joshua P to close out the second with SOuthwest leading 4-3. The third period Aiden M would shut the door on Southwest. Joshua P would tie the game at 4 at 6:24 unassisted and then Kyle M would score the series winner at 4:03 to give the Wallaceburg Lakers 1 the Bantam Plaque for 2018-19.
